Safety Railings & Guards
Weld Rich & Steel fabricates and installs custom steel safety railings and industrial guardrails for warehouses, factories, mezzanines, rooftops and commercial buildings across Toronto and the GTA.
Our railing systems help protect workers, reduce fall risks and improve safety around elevated areas and industrial equipment.

Every industrial and commercial facility has different safety requirements. If you need guardrails around a mezzanine, rooftop safety railings or protective barriers near machinery, Weld Rich & Steel can fabricate steel railing systems to suit your project.
We work with contractors, facility managers, industrial maintenance teams and commercial property owners across Toronto and the GTA from our Concord location.
Our focus is on durable, practical steelwork that helps protect people and equipment without interfering with daily operations.
Fall protection & perimeter safety systems
We fabricate and install steel safety railings and protective barriers for commercial and industrial applications. Each system is built around the layout, operating conditions and safety requirements of the facility.
Custom steel guardrails for elevated platforms, open edges and work areas where the project requires fall protection.
Steel safety railings for commercial rooftops and maintenance areas. Fixed or non-penetrating mounting options depend on the roof, support conditions and project requirements.
Custom steel barriers for workers and equipment in manufacturing environments. The required protection and access arrangement must be defined for the machinery and operation.
Steel barriers to separate pedestrian walkways from vehicle routes and active warehouse operations. Specify any required impact resistance for the project.
Custom steel railings for mezzanines, industrial platforms and elevated work areas, coordinated with openings, stairs and supporting steel.
Project-specific steel guardrails and protective barriers for unusual layouts, facility upgrades and changes to existing steelwork.
Materials & Styles
We build industrial safety railings using structural steel selected for the project requirements. Systems can be mounted to concrete floors, steel platforms, walls or suitable rooftop structures, subject to the support and connection design.
Finishing options may include powder coating, hot-dip galvanizing and high-visibility safety colours. Material selection, mounting methods and finishes depend on exposure, maintenance needs and project specifications.
These are material, mounting and finish options for scope discussion. Suitability, dimensions, loads and protection systems must be confirmed for the project.
| Material / Profile Type | Application | Key Characteristics |
|---|---|---|
| HSS Posts (Square / Rectangular) | Primary guardrail posts | High rigidity, clean appearance, project-specific load resistance |
| Pipe & Tube Rail Sections | Top and mid rails | Smooth profile, project-specific strength requirements, good visibility |
| Plate Steel Panels | Equipment and machinery guards | Robust protection for high-risk zones |
| Custom Welded Assemblies | Non-standard safety systems | Fabricated to suit unique layouts and operational needs |
| Mounting Type | Typical Use | Benefits |
|---|---|---|
| Surface-Mounted Systems | Concrete floors, slabs, rooftops | Flexible installation, easy retrofit |
| Side-Mounted Systems | Elevated edges and platforms | Maximizes usable floor space |
| Embedded or Anchored Posts | Permanent installations | High stability for heavy-use areas |
| Non-Penetrating Bases | Rooftop safety railings | Avoids roof penetrations where the approved design permits |
| Finish | Indoor | Outdoor | Benefits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Shop Primer | Yes | Limited | Temporary corrosion protection |
| Powder Coating | Yes | Yes | Durable, high-visibility finish |
| Hot-Dip Galvanizing | Yes | Yes | Corrosion protection for the specified exposure |
| Safety Colour Coatings | Yes | Yes | Improves visibility in active work zones |
Confirm the specification before fabrication
Provide the required material grades, connection details, finish and inspection requirements. Where CSA G40.21 material requirements or CSA W59 welding requirements are specified, confirm the applicable grade, edition and documentation with the project designer.
Company certification, individual welder qualifications and welding procedures are separate requirements. Ask us to confirm the current records and scope needed for your project. Structural design and approval remain with the responsible professional engineer.
Key considerations
Industrial safety railings need to suit the conditions of each facility. Railing height, structural support, mounting conditions, exposure to impact and the use of the protected area all affect the project requirements.
Weld Rich & Steel fabricates steel railing systems based on the agreed scope, supplied drawings and applicable specifications. Depending on the installation, Ontario building codes, workplace safety regulations and Canadian welding standards may apply. A pedestrian barrier is not automatically a vehicle-impact barrier or a complete machinery guarding system.
Identify exposed edges, access routes, equipment clearances and how people use the area. The layout should protect the intended space without blocking operations.
Confirm the required railing height, openings, loads and inspection requirements for the location and use. Building and workplace rules may apply differently.
Confirm substrate condition, edge distances and connection details. New guardrails need suitable support; existing concrete or steel may require an engineering assessment.
Select finishes for moisture, chemicals, wear and visibility. Include inspection, cleaning and coating repairs in the facility maintenance plan.

FAQ
We fabricate custom steel guardrails, mezzanine railings, rooftop safety railings, warehouse barriers and protective railing systems for commercial and industrial facilities. The layout, mounting details and intended use determine the agreed scope.
Yes. Weld Rich & Steel provides industrial safety railing fabrication and installation for commercial and industrial projects across Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. Share your location and site access requirements with the enquiry.
We can review existing steel guardrails and discuss repair, modification or replacement options based on their condition and project requirements. Photographs are useful for an initial discussion; structural suitability may need assessment by the responsible engineer.
Yes. Steel railing systems can be fabricated to suit specific dimensions, facility layouts, mounting conditions and operational requirements. Provide the drawings or measurements available and identify any existing supports or access restrictions.
Applicable requirements depend on the location, use and design of the railing system. Projects may be subject to Ontario Building Code provisions, workplace safety regulations and relevant technical standards. Confirm the project requirements with the responsible designer and authority where applicable.
Weld Rich & Steel can review supplied engineering drawings and project specifications for custom steel railing fabrication. Include the drawing revision, material and finish requirements, connection details and any required inspections. Engineering design and approval remain with the responsible engineer.
Pricing depends on the railing dimensions, steel materials, mounting details, finish and installation conditions. Existing support repairs, access restrictions and work around operating equipment can also affect the scope. Send your project details for a quotation with clear inclusions.
Send the project location, approximate dimensions, intended use and available drawings or photographs. Include the required schedule, site access details and any specified welding or documentation requirements. Use Request a Quote to attach project files, or call 416-835-5363 to discuss the scope.
Coordinate railings at stair openings with our industrial steel stairs service. For connections to platforms, beams or other steelwork, see commercial structural steel fabrication. We can also discuss equipment supports and custom steel brackets as part of the agreed project scope.
Applications
Steel safety railings and guardrails help protect workers and organize movement in commercial and industrial environments.
Typical commercial and industrial applications include:
Ontario’s current Building Code framework is established by O. Reg. 163/24, which adopts the National Building Code of Canada 2020 with Ontario amendments. Confirm the applicable edition, current amendments and any transition provisions for the permit and project.
Workplace requirements depend on the facility and work being performed. The responsible designer and site team should identify the applicable rules, support conditions, connection details and inspection requirements before fabrication. Welding qualifications do not replace structural design or required approvals.
